ProHTA: Prospective Assessment of Healthcare Technologies

Innovative health technology is in great demand and offers high potentials for all involved stake-holders (e.g. health industry, patients, hospitals). ProHTA is an approach that uses simulation to indicate the effects of new technologies early before the expensive and risky development process begins. Another goal is to find gaps and bottlenecks in the health care system to catch potentials for new health technologies. This approach uses hybrid simulation consisting of System Dynamics models for macro simulation and Agent-Based models to simulate individual scenarios. Example use-cases of ProHTA are in particular stroke therapy and oncology domain. Stroke therapy will be the primary focus and known effects and data of the thrombolysis will be used to validate the simulation models before predicting the impact of new technologies. ProHTA is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is a part of the Center of Excellence for Medical Technology (ProHTA).
